Watertightness Test

Shipowners or other parties appoint a surveyor to conduct watertightness tests on hatch covers and other weather deck openings to ensure that they are watertight. To determine whether the hatch covers are watertight, a hose test or ultrasonic watertightness analysis should be performed. Watertightness testing is performed on Nomadic Survey’s two AEV testing banks for windows, doors, and façades up to 4x4m. Watertightness refers to a closed window’s ability to keep water out. The test consists of applying a controlled static pressure across the sample and spraying a continuous, regularly dispersed film of water all over the test section’s surface.

Draught Surveys

A draft survey is a method of determining the weight of cargo on board a vessel by measuring the displacement of the water before and after (un)loading, with the difference representing the weight of the designated cargo. A survey is carried out by reading the draft markings on the hull at six standard locations: forward, midship, and towards both the port and starboard sides. Our highly qualified professionals have extensive experience in this service and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to conduct a draft survey and produce an independent report using the “Draft Survey Software System,” which is based on the internationally standardised draft survey protocol. This program computes the loaded or discharged weight, and a signed quantity agreement is given to the chief officer.

Vessel Condition Surveys

Our surveyors have extensive experience conducting vessel condition surveys and loss prevention assessments for shipowners and charterers. Our lead surveyors have been conducting vessel condition surveys for over 5 years and have completed over 800 such surveys. The vessels listed below can be inspected. We conduct both visual surveys of the vessel’s open decks and cargo compartments, which are often required during an on/off-hire survey to confirm any recent damages, and more extensive surveys, which may include a detailed inspection of the vessel’s hull, machinery, equipment, and certification. In any case, the client’s requirements will be carefully assessed, and the survey will be carried out by experienced surveyors with technical expertise.
